Peace

We finally have a weekend free of soccer. Now don't get me wrong. I love soccer! We would have had soccer this weekend but Cassidi’s team did not advance this weekend in Cal Cup or State Cup. It’s really bitter sweet. We have time at home but my husband and Cassidi would love to be playing this weekend!

I have to be honest though…I’m looking forward to a low-key weekend. We still have commitments but there will be lots of time of rest. We’ve been so busy lately and a sweet friend Diane sums it up best – “there is an acronym for BUSY: Being Under Satan's Yoke...our adversary wants us SO busy, so wrapped up in life, that we don't have time to let our roots grow down deep in Jesus...when our roots are shallow and hard times come, we can't stand, we fall and fall apart, but when we make HIM the priority He ought to be and the storms hit, we can stand strong in Him and we have the right perspective on life and what we are here for.”

And what’s amazing is that I came home today to find out that my husband decided to fast this weekend. Not a dietary fast but a biblical fast based on a book by Jentezen Franklin. Now, what’s crazy about all this is that we have a weekend full of good food – tri-tip tonight, 50th birthday bash for his sister and a family gathering on Sunday – all surrounded by food. David is not quite sure how long his commitment will be but I must say, I am truly thankful and blessed for a man who wants more than anything than to be obedient to God. I’m not sure I could handle a weekend fast especially when most my life revolves around food (planning, purchasing, cooking and most definitely, eating)! But one thing I do know is that God knows what this family needs and that’s time with HIM. So, I thank you God that we have this weekend free of soccer and time together for peace. My prayer is that I will make the time to not be so BUSY and see what He has in store for me. Maybe it’s a fast…

By the way, the picture above is the levee outside my mom's home - very peaceful. I'll be picturing myself there this weekend!

We have two dogs...

Jackson & Bandit. Jackson came first. He was homeless and found us. Bandit came later...Jackson needed a buddy. Jackson is definitely the superior one, the man, the alpha male. Bandit is invasive, often annoying and loud. The two are inseparable and quite opposite. However, on New Year's Eve, Bandit broke his leg. Bandit is now mellow, incapable of moving around and just plain lazy (does he have a choice?). Jackson needs a buddy.

Growing up way too fast! Kylee had her first dance last night at Redlands Christian School. She was stunning! Seem's like yesterday she was just a little girl!
